FLT’s Highly Efficient Solar Panels with Active Cell™ Technology
Did you know that a single fallen leaf can reduce the energy stored by an entire conventional solar panel by up to 93%? Thanks to FLT’s innovative Active Cell™ technology built to optimize power generation, that is no longer the case.
In fact, the same-sized obstruction now only reduces the energy stored in a solar panel by 24%, which means roughly 75% more energy to power outdoor lights that keep streets, pathways, parks and parking lots lit brighter and longer. That means, if a piece of debris happens to land on an FLT solar panel, it will continue to work efficiently until the obstruction is blown off.

How Does Active Cell™ Technology Work?
FLT’s Active Cell™ technology alters the cell wiring methodology of conventional panels to ensure all available light is collected efficiently. In a conventional panel, when a single cell is shaded, this can knock out an entire string of cells wired in series. This is because the current is limited by the weakest cell wired in series, which can be reduced to zero in full shading. This sharply reduces the power generated by the panel.
FLT’s Active Cell™ technology changes this network by allowing current to flow around the obstruction. The debris will no longer knock out an entire region of the panel, and the decrease in power generation will be more proportional to the shaded area. Metal busbars on the panel are also minimized to optimize the area for light exposure.
Who Can Benefit from FLT’s Active Cell™ Technology?
Municipalities, homeowners’ associations, facility managers and anyone else with a need for commercial outdoor lights can save on energy costs with one of FLT’s solar lighting solutions.
Specifically, in parks and other areas surrounded by nature, FLT’s proprietary solar cells enable its panels to withstand extreme weather and debris to deliver reliable lighting in even the harshest conditions. The high efficiency of FLT’s ActiveCell™ technology outperforms conventional solar panels to ensure that each solar light installed, regardless of the area, performs at maximum capacity.
